Statements (in Turkish with English translations) made on 22 April 1994, 18 May 1994, 20 May 1994, and 20 June 1994 by Behçet Avşar to the Kurdistan Human Rights Project concerning continuous attacks and threats made toward his family, including threats from the Saraykapı gendarme station ('if we mention them in the court things will get worse for us') which are preventing his family from appearing at government hearings because they fear their lives may be endangered. Behçet's statement of 20 June 1994 notes that government forces attempted to kill two of his cousins that week.
