Scope and content
The Alex Wilson letters are a set of letters written between 1898 and 1909 by emigrant Alex Wilson in Brooklyn, New York to his sister Maggie Denham in Ballymena, County Antrim. Alex and his wife Lizzie (née Nelson) emigrated to New York circa the 1870s. Although it took the couple some years to obtain stable employment, the Wilsons (parents of three children) appear to be moderately prosperous by the mid-1900s.
The series includes: transcripts of 5 letters and abstracts of 26 letters taken from the Wilson Family letters held in PRONI; Bruce D. Boling's biographical notes on the Wilson family; and correspondence from 1990 between Kerby A. Miller and Stephen J. Sullivan which includes slight information on Alex Wilson.
