Scope and content
First page of a letter (incomplete) from Kevin Boyle and Françoise Hampson to H.C. Krüger, Secretary to the European Commission of Human Rights. The letter enclosed a letter and documentation from Kerim Yıldız, Director of the Kurdish Human Rights Project, which purports that various authorities of the Turkish Government have been working to undermine the functioning of the planned hearings in the Akdivar and others case, the Aksoy case, and the Çağırga case to be held by the Commission on 11-17 March 1995 in Turkey. Accusations including threatening, harassment, assault, and coercion of witnesses. Specifically, Yıldız accuses the government of forcing two witnesses into giving false statements about their applications and another into giving false testimony at the previous hearing. Attached are transcripts (in English and in Turkish) of filmed interviews conducted by the Turkish Government with Hüseyin Akdivar and Ahmet Çiçek in which testimony is suspected of being coerced, and a further letter of clarification from Boyle and Hampson.
