Scope and content
Typed transcript of Brendan Duddy's diary of 1975 by [Éamonn Downey]. With prefix outlining format of transcript and listing events leading up to diary entries (p.1), and with appendix with 'other important facts about 1975 and early 1976' (pp 99-104). Transcriber then added to the body of the diary the following contextual information: 1) factual details (marked in yellow) in deciphering the diary, in adding information later volunteered by Duddy, or in supplying political events [frequent], 2) observations by Downey (marked in green) drawing attention to parallel events, publications, clarifying diary entries [sparse], 3) handwritten entries for further commentary or correction. Including note from Downey with information given by Duddy that whenever he did not attend, or only partially attended, a meeting, he was briefed later by Ó Brádaigh and others, 'but never, ever McKee', adding to his diary what he heard (p.41). NOTE: Some pages of the diary are restricted (a redacted reprographic copy will be provided)
