Reproduction and transcripts of an 1851 letter sent by Thomas Vogan in San Francisco, to his brother Richard in Ireland, as well as Kerby A. Miller's notes on the letter. Per Miller: 'Thomas Vogan was a liquor dealer and commission merchant in San Francisco. He first emigrated to Melbourne, before moving to the U.S. He constantly sends home American newspapers to give the people in Ireland the latest information on America. He is obviously very impressed with San Francisco and with Americans.'
