Per Begley: 'In 1853, Thomas Alexander Langford, a Methodist from Co. Leix, sailed on the ship, "New World," to join his uncle Isaac in Canada. His ship left Liverpool on Oct. 26; meeting terrible storms in the Irish seas, and generally unfavorable weather throughout the voyage.'
Included are Kerby A. Miller's typed and handwritten transcripts of the journal and a photocopy of the published source material.
