Draft of article by Canon Hayes on the topic of Irish rural depopulation written from the Sunday Independent. The article was published in the Sunday Independent, 19 March 1939, as 'The Flight From the Land: Rural Ireland Is At Last Making Itself Heard!' In the article, Canon Hayes advocates: incentivising early marriages amongst rural workers via dowry houses and family allowances; the introduction of rural bias into the education system; ruralisation along the lines of Mussolini's Italy; and Muintir na Tíre.
