At the request of a Protestant minister Rev. William Arlow deputy secretary of the Irish Council of Churches representatives of the Republican Movement met with eight Protestant Clergymen at Smyth's Village Hotel in Feakle, County Clare. Ruairí Ó Brádaigh was among the representatives of the Republican Movement. In the event the meeting was disrupted by the Gardaí, however the contacts established helped pave the way for the 1975 ceasefire and bi-lateral truce negotiations.
