Scope and content

Transcripts and reproductions of nine letters sent between 1873 and 1875 to Michael, John, and (likely) Studdert in Rehy Park, County Clare. The letters were sent by emigrants now living in New York and New Jersey. During the time of the letters, William Studdert, author of three of the letters sent from New York. had returned home to Clare from New Jersey for health reasons; he died in 1875. The Studderts were the sons of Michael Studdert, chairman of the Kilrush Board of Guardians (1827-1850). The Studdert family seat was at Dromelihy House, Cooraclare.
