Scrapbook of press and magazine cuttings, postcards, membership cards, programmes for events, collected by [G.A. Hayes-McCoy]; most with handwritten captions. Containing press material from "The Irish Press", "The Irish Independent", "The Irish Times", "The Evening Herald", "The Sunday Independent", "The Connaught Tribune", "The Galway Observer", and others. Mostly documenting events in Hayes-McCoy's career and private life - from time as a student in Galway and Edinburgh, at the Institute of Historical Research (London), the National Museum of Ireland (Dublin), marriage to May O'Connor; some of his own poetry, press writings (not academic). Also cuttings of generally historical interest. Including much press material about new acquisitions at the National Museum during his tenure; May 1934 - menu card of a dinner, Clifden, with signature by Éamon de Valera; some of Hayes-McCoy's designs for family cards and a heraldic badge (Connaught Trout Anglers' Association); series from the Irish Press column "Seen, heard and noted" by "Roddy the Rover" (Aodh de Blácam) 1937-1944; photograph depicting Hayes-McCoy and [his parents]; programme for 1947 historical pageant "The common people" which he wrote the English script for; material relating to Bureau of Military History. Loose press cutting from [ ] with a letter to the Editor by T.J. Keane entitled "Owen Roe O'Neill". [partly in Irish ].
