Five letters are written by his brother Samuel, who lived in a fishing camp on the Mingan River in what is now the province of Quebec and who also participated in the Dakota War of 1862 which resulted in the displacement of the Dakota people onto reservations in the American Midwest. A sixth letter is from Robert Dunville sent from San Sebastian, Spain. The catalogue concludes with M.R. Bruce’s genealogical notes on the Bruce family.
