Materials pertaining to the memoir of Robert Crowe. Robert Crowe was born in 1823 in Dublin and first emigrated to England in 1837, eventually emigrating to New York in 1854. This memoir entitled, The Reminiscences of Robert Crowe: The Octogenarian Tailor (1902), which Kerby A. Miller characterises as more like 'a long pamphlet' than a traditional memoir, was written around 1901 when Crowe was in his 80's. Miller observes 'that Crowe had a very eventful life, involved in labor organizing and radical politics in both England and the US-including the Irish Repeal movement and the Chartist movement in England in the 1840s (for which he served two years in English prison), and the Abolitionist movement in the US.' The series contains Miller's research notes and correspondence, a typed copy of Crowe's obituary, a typed transcript of The Reminiscences of Robert Crowe: The Octogenarian Tailor, and photocopy of the original.
