Materials pertaining to 19 letters written by James Richey and later his brother Andrew, natives of Lisburn who emigrated to the United States in 1818 and 1829, respectively. The brothers settled in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, later moving to Clinton, Mississippi. They wrote letters home to their family giving their news, and on matters of religion and politics where they live, including on the slavery question. Included in this series are transcripts of the 19 family letters (dated 1818-1843) found in PRONI (D3561) and copied by Miller, as well as Miller's research notes on the family and photocopies of secondary source publications for additional historical context.
