Rhea was born in November 1881, the daughter of John Marcellius Gore and Adelia Richardson. She was born in Indiana and raised in Ohio. She later became a journalist. She met Walter Huston at the World Fair in St. Louis, marrying him on 31st December, 1904. They had a son, John, in 1906 and divorced in 1912. She later married Howard Eveleth Stevens, the chief engineer (1916-1928) and later vice-president for maintenance and operation (1928-1938) of the Northern Pacific Railroad. She moved to Los Angeles in 1939 to live with John and died soon afterwards.
