Photocopies of 17 letters dated 1815-1860, nearly all of which were written from the United States to the Rev. William J. Stavely, a Reformed Presbyterian Covenanter minster, or to members of his family, near Ballymoney in north County Antrim. Six of the letters were written by members of the Bones, Brown, and Hamilton families in Augusta, Georgia, 1815-1860. Three letters were written by the Rev. Alexander McLeod of New York City, 1816-1825. Seven letters were written by members of the Adams and Cathcart families, all but one of them women, in South Carolina (or, in one instance, in Ballymoney), 1817-1829. Finally, one letter was written by James Lyons of Winnsborough, South Carolina to his cousin in Ballymoney in 1825.
