The 'Cambridge Reporters Notebook' contains accounts from Boyle's first visit to the Gambia, Dec 1980 - Jan 1981. In the notebook are accounts of interviews with people Boyle meets with, notes of various discussions, issues to raise and further notes from the visit; Manuscript notes on looseleaf A4 paper by Boyle and entitled "Trial Observation Work for Amnesty International"; A4 pad with cover page titled "Victor Refill Pad Foolscap 80 Leaf". This notepad opens with observations by Boyle on Northern Ireland and an introduction and background on the "the major human rights concerns in the continuing civil conflict in Northern Ireland" and moving on to discuss issues in Gambia and reference both regions in the area of detainees on and awaiting trial, trial procedures, interrogation and other such matters.
