              A copy of the Congressional Record of the United States of America, Proceedings and Debates of the 102d Congress, Second Session, Volume 138, Washington, 04/08/1992, in which Senator Edward Kennedy introduced the context of President Robinson's historic address "on a matter of national importance: Irish Identity in Europe" to the joint houses of the Oireachtas, 8th July, 1992, following the Maastricht Treaty, Referendum, and which he asked be entered into the record, there being no objection, which it was in full. Also includes post-it note from Joe Brennan, Deputy Secretary to the President, to MR, drawing her attention to the relevant pages, 24/08/1992.

              Material relating to President Mary Robinson (MR)'s historic address to the Houses of the Oireachtas on 8th July 1992 "on a matter of national importance: Irish Identity in Europe", including correspondence, background material, drafts and final text. Apart from former President Éamon de Valera's address to the Joint Houses in the Mansion House in 1969, this was the first time President of Ireland had addressed a working parliament, whereby the three constituent parts of the Oireachtas (The Dáil, The Seanad and The President) were all present and in the Traditional Seat of Parliament, Leinster House.
