Photo album and scrapbook of press and magazine cuttings, travel tickets, cards, correspondence, programmes for events, collected by G.A. Hayes-McCoy documenting his part in the Irish delegation to the Admiral Brown Centenary Celebrations in Buenos Aires, March 1957, headed by Minister of Defence General Mac Eoin. Hayes-McCoy travelled representing President Ó Ceallaigh, and as the President of the Irish Committee of Homage to Admiral Brown. With press material from The Irish Press , La Prensa , La Nación , The Standard (Buenos Aires), La Razon , and others. Correspondence including letters from Department of Education, Argentinian Legation (Dublin), Comisión de homenaje al almirante Guillermo Brown (Buenos Aires), Argentine Departments of the Defence and of Foreign Affairs, Rotary Club (Buenos Aires), and others. Illustrating journey, festive receptions, parade of troops, a Te Deum , and other events. Containing c.55 black-and-white photographs from events, and of museum artefacts, few with captions. Also including special envelopes and stamps; letters from children Ian, Robert, Mary (and two items removed).
