Scope and content

Letter from Peter Ormsby, son, to Thomas Ormsby of Ballinamore, Co. Mayo. From Thomas Street, Limerick in which he writes that he is not going to "Buxton for my health ... as I find I have a good deal of duty here" so he is going to "the warm salt baths at Kilrush, in the county of Clare ... as I have lately had a very severe attack of rheumatic gout on the back of my neck and shoulders ..." His family are in good health and "Miss Maunsell continues with us and as yet we consider it much more advantageous to the girls, than going daily to a public school in the town. Tom and Owen still go to Mr. Bayless but after Christmas I look forward to placing Tom at a good classical school ... this city and county are reduced by the failure of the banks. Major Venker has been deprived of his seat in Parliament, by a committee of the House of Commons.
