Mayo. from Dublin in which he writes of feeling "... highly flattered at the testimonials I received from the medical people here, as well as the number of letters wrote in my favour, however until the day of election takes place, which I have heard cannot be until the latter end of September, they say they will not make any promises ... I shall have a sharp contest ..." Crampton the Surgeon General and a Dr. Renny think he should succeed and "I have left nothing undone on my part and I hope to reach Ballinamore to be with you and my mother early next week ..."
