Letter from Peter Ormsby, son, to Thomas Ormsby of Ballinamore, Co. Mayo. From Cavan in which he writes "... having received a denial to my memorial from the Lord Lieutenant, my little income is so much reduced I am determined if, in my power, to earn a livelihood for my young family ... a vacancy having occurred for a surgeon to the county infirmary here, I lost not one moment in coming to this town and Lord Enniskillen was good enough to give me strong letters of recommendation to Lord Farnham, the Bishop of Kilmore, Colonel Sanderson and some other men of the first consequence in this county ... now if I find I have any chance of coming in, I have to request you will allow me to draw on you for one hundred pounds, should I stand in need of it ... I will go to Dublin tomorrow and write to Mary to proceed to Ballinamore, I beg my mother will write to Lady Leitrim, to require her to write to Lady Farnham in my favour ... I shall go from Dublin to Ballinamore. ..."
