Letter from Peter Ormsby, son, to Thomas Ormsby of Ballinamore, Co. Mayo. From London, in which he describes the "... safe arrival of the 4 regiment [from Jersey] in this country ... the transport Adam was in got safe to Portsmouth ... I received a very kind letter from a friend Mr. Stewart wherein he says he had heard from Mr. Keate and that he begs he may be assured of his readiness to forward his wishes upon every occasion but at present he has no opportunity of serving Mr. Ormsby ... so I shall wait a little longer to obtain the object of my wishes ... I was ordered off tonight to inspect the out pensioners of Chelsea that may be fit for duty ... nor indeed can I find words to describe to you how sensible I am to your constant readiness to assist me on every occasion. I have often seen Col. Jackson in town, he was very polite and indeed civil to me.
