Scope and content

Two letters pertaining to Peter Brien, including a 1924 Christmas letter sent to his mother and a 1978 history of the Brien family written by his son, an unidentified adult education student in North Tipperary. Peter Brien emigrated from North Tipperary to the United States in 1882 and joined the United States Army. Peter eventually settled in Hartford, Connecticut, and spent 14 years going back-and-forth between the United States and Ireland before returning home. He retained his United States citizenship, as did his children. Also included is the letter of donation.
