Scope and content

Abstract of a letter from Patrick Lavin in Connecticut, to his son (in-law?) and daughter in Ireland, 8 November 1855. Per Kerby A. Miller: 'The writer seems to be a Famine emigrant, who left some of his children behind when he and his wife (still living) and other children went to America... ...Poor man, servant or unskilled laborer; sent home $15 in last letter, but received no answer.'
