Photostatic copy of a poem by Patrick Kane of Carrigaholt, County Clare who emigrated in 1858. The poem, 'Reflections of an Irish Emigrant,' was published in The New World, Chicago, 19 November 1898.
Per Kerby A. Miller: 'The most revealing and intelligent piece of its kind; the nostalgic backward glance, coupled with both weariness at industrial America and recognition of its being the future of the Irish.' The series also contains Miller's research notes.
