Material includes background information on Malta including EU [European Union] relations, parliamentary elections and foreign policy, sent to Peter Ryan (PR), Secretary to the President, by Joe Brennan, Deputy Chief of Protocol, and Eamon Hickey, Economic Division, Department of Foreign Affairs, 07/02/1997; correspondence between Cassar and Irish Ambassador to Rome, Joseph Small, which was forwarded to PR, and which gave details of private dinner and list of dinner guests, 06/02/1997; correspondence in relation to UNICE [Union of Industrial and Employers' Confederations of Europe] Council of Presidents' Audience with MR in the Áras, 28/11/1996, at which Cassar and his wife Marilyn were participants; typed note from Ann [Lane] to MR about availability of fax machine in her hotel suite, and wishing Nick Robinson a happy birthday, 07/02/1997.
