Scope and content
Transcripts and reproductions of ten letters sent to Dora and James O'Neill of Portarlington, Queen's (Laois) County between 1855 and 1889. Some of the letters pertain to her son John, who fought in the Army of the Potomac for the United States during the American Civil War and died in a Confederate prison camp in Georgia; the majority of the letters provide news from American relatives.
