Scope and content

Abstracts and excerpts of letters held in the O'Conor Don papers pertaining to Irish emigration to the United States. Many of the letters are written by or to members of the extended O'Conor/O'Connor family, including several O'Conor Dons.. Notable authors include Thomas O'Connor, a United Irishman who emigrated to New York City and became a prominent journalist, and Charles O'Conor, perhaps the most prominent American lawyer of the mid-20th century and supporter of the Confederate States of America.
