This series relates to the research work of Donncha Ó Súilleabháin, a long serving member of Conradh na Gaeilge (CnaG) who became General Secretary of the organisation in 1955 and President of the Oireachtas the same year. He wrote several books on CnaG including “Scéal an Oireachtais”, “Conradh na Gaeilge i Londain 1894-1917”, “Na Timirí: Ré tosaigh an Chonartha” and “Cath na Gaeilge sa Chóras Oideachais 1893-1911” and much of his research for those books can be found in this series. This series is subdivided into topics of his research including early history of Conradh na Gaeilge; An Claidheamh Soluis [CnaG’s first newspaper]; Ard-Fheis [CnaG’s annual congress]; Oireachtas; Drama; Education; organisers and travelling teachers; [CnaG in] London; and Patrick Pearse and primarily consists of correspondence and cuttings. A final subseries relates to his time as General Secretary and consists of correspondence.
Ó Súilleabháin also actively gathered old CnaG ephemera and photographs for use in his books which have since been scattered across the collection.
