Materials related to the 1989 Irish-language memoir of Neilí Uí Bheaghaoich, Carraig a' Dúin. Per Professor Kerby A. Miller: '...the author emigrated from Kerry in 1926, and subsequently lived in Boston, Springfield, and Holyoke, Massachusetts, and then, and for the longest period in the 1930s-40s, in Chicago, where her brother lived. She does not appear to have held menial jobs in America, and so perhaps she had better than a grade school education. Indeed, there's even one photograph of her in the US playing golf! Contains interesting references to the Kerry and Mayo emigrants' county societies and dances in Chicago. Also on the effects of the Great Depression and FDR's New Deal. Apparently, she returned to Kerry after World War II, but I don't know why or what she did in Ireland after her return. This memoir is by a woman-and a western Irish-speaker-and so is very valuable'.
The series consists of Kerby A. Miller and Breandán MacSuibhne's notes on Uí Bheaghaoich, followed by a photocopy of the memoir.
