Scope and content

Transcripts and reproductions of ten letters sent between 1824 and 1830 by Daniel Neeson, likely of Ballymena, County Antrim, to his brother John in upstate New York sending news of family and acquaintances. The letters were preserved in a purse belonging to Isabella Woods, John's daughter, and were passed down to her son, West Virginia state senator Samuel V. Woods. Included in the series are a letter from 1913 written by Samuel to his sister-in-law forwarding the letters, and a letter from West Virginia University Library forwarding reproductions to Kerby A. Miller.
