Materials pertaining to the case filed by Muzaffer Bilgin on 13 December 1994 against the Republic of Turkey with the European Commission of Human Rights (application number 26147/95, referred to internally within the Kurdish Litigation Project as Case 173 and assigned to Françoise Hampson as lead) regarding the killing of her husband, teacher Sıddık Bilgin, while in custody on 31 July 1985, and the subsequent domestic proceedings which resulted in the Supreme Court annulling the original conviction against 5 members of the security forces on 17 November 1993 and the Ankara Serious Penalty Court acquitting the defendants on 21 April 1994. On 4 September 1996, the case was unanimously struck by the Commission from its list of cases as it was found to be outside of the scope of the European Convention on Human Rights.
