Scope and content
Transcripts and reproductions of letters written in 1854 and 1856 by brothers Richard and Moses Staunton, respectively, to their mother and sister in Glencairn, Belfast. Richard wrote his letter from Liverpool; Moses from Toronto. Also included are E.R.R. Green's notes on the family. Per Green: 'Moses Staunton was a paper manufacturer, formerly of Glencairn, Belfast. Sailed for Toronto in 1854, was shipwrecked off St. John's, Newfoundland, but survived unscathed. Died on Oct. 3, 1877 in Toronto. His descendants are believed to be leading paper manufacturers and merchants in Toronto.'
