Memo from J Richardson, Lucknow, to Peter Freyer, forwarding a copy of a letter from the Chief Secretary to the Government, NWP and Oudh, Appointment Dept, Naini Tal, to the Agent to the Lieutenant Governor for Rampur, Bareilly, dated 2 May 1893. He refers to the letter from the President of the Council of Regency, Rampur, stating that they proposed to pay Surgeon Major P J Freyer, Rs 11,200 for attendance on the late Nawab of Rampur and Rs 8,800 for attendance on Rampur state officials. He states that the Lieutenant Governor has directed that the Rs 8,800 may be paid but not the Rs 11,200 as he considers Freyer has already been adequately compensated for his services to the Nawab, especially in light of the Government of India's view that Rs 50,000 was the utmost which he should have received
