Materials pertaining to the case filed by 9 Kurdish citizens of Turkey ('Akdeniz and others') against the Republic of Turkey with the European Commission of Human Rights (case number 23954/94, referred to internally within the Kurdish Litigation Project as Cases 93-101 and assigned to Françoise Hampson as lead) over the forced disappearance of their relatives from the area of Alaca, Kulp District, Diyarbakır Province, via military helicopter on 9 October 1993. Applicants included Mehmet Emin Akdeniz, Seyithan Atala, Sabri Avar, Aydın Demir, Ramazan Jerlikaya, Keleş Şimşek, Kemal Taş, Sabri Tutuş, and Süleyman Yamuk. The European Court of Human Rights ruled in favour of the applicants on 31 May 2001, awarding £624,840 in damages.
