Scope and content
Transcripts, abstracts, and reproductions of six letters sent between 1828 and 1833 by John McLees in New York to John's brother James in Ballymoney, County Antrim. The letters touch on topics such as the linen trade (in which John works), family news, news of New York, and Protestantism. Given his discussion of ‘meeting houses’ and his association with Abraham Bell, a prominent figure in New York's Friends (Quaker) community whose own correspondence appears in folder P155/61/4, John McLees appears to be a Quaker as well.
