Per his letter to Dr. Arnold Schrier of 10 October 1961, John Kirwan, owner of the original manuscript, provided photocopies of the original manuscript to Professor Schrier and to Professor E.R.R. Green, both future collaborators of Kerby A. Miller, as well as to the National Library of Ireland [call number MS 11428]. Miller sourced his reproductions from the National Library of Ireland and created his transcript from these.

Materials pertaining to the Mary McLean Walsh memoir. Mary McLean Walsh was born in County Leitrim in 1816 and her memoir describes emigrating with her parents and siblings to Upper Canada in 1832 at the age of 16. McLean Walsh was a member of the Church of England and married Michael Madigan Walsh c. 1844 in Canada and died in Ottawa c. 1900. Her memoir was written or dedicated to her daughter, Sarah Kirwan, c. 1886-1900. The series contains: typed versions of the memoir and a photocopy of the original; Professer Kerby A. Miller's research on McLean, County Leitrim, and Quebec; research on cholera in 19th century Quebec; newspaper clippings; copies of secondary source materials; Miller's research notes and correspondence.
