Reproduction and transcript of an 1839 letter written by Mary Jane Caffrey in London, Upper Canada (Ontario) to her friend Sally Brereton in Parsonstown, King's County (now Birr, County Offaly). This correspondence is an example of cross-writing, a style popularised during the 19th century to save paper and reduce the price of postage. Attached is the letter of donation from the Offaly County Council Library.
