              This file concerns a two-year policy-oriented project known as the Study Group on European Citizenship, of which Mary Robinson (MR) was part and consists of material related to a series of workshops which were held jointly by the Federal Trust for Education and Research (FTER), the British Institute for International and Comparative Law (BIICL) and the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, University of London (IALS) between 1988 and 1990.               Material relating to the Council of Europe's interregional meeting "Human Rights at the Dawn of the 21st Century", organised in advance of the World Conference on Human Rights, and for which Mary Robinson (MR) was General Rapporteur, 28-30 January 1993. Her delegation included Nicholas Robinson, Peter Ryan, Secretary to the President, Bride Rosney, Special Advisor to the President, Brian McCarthy, Department of the Taoiseach, and Colm O'Floinn and Síle Maguire, Department of Foreign Affairs. It consists of papers and reports from the meeting including MR's conclusions, and a letter of thanks from Peter Leuprecht, Director of Human rights, Council of Europe 24/03/1993.

              Correspondence between Mary Robinson (MR) and The General Council of the Bar of Ireland including meeting agendas, accounts and Honorary Secretary's report, circulars relating to subscriptions to the Law Library and to amendments to the Code of Conduct, appeals for contributions to the Benevolent Society of the Bar of Ireland, Law Library News newsletters, tables of Counsels' fees in relation to High Court matters, material relating to Group Income Protection Schemes, Professional Indemnity Insurance and Bar Retirement Pension Schemes, and material relating to the provision and development of library services. It also includes correspondence between MR and GD Doyle, secretary of the Professional Practices Committee in relation to her appearance on Today Tonight, RTÉ to discuss the Divorce referendum, and possible breaches of the Bar Council's ruling on appearances by barristers, 16/03-17/05/1982; direct correspondence from Norman Jones (Insurance and Financial Services) in relation to the Income Protection Scheme, and its cancellation upon MR taking role of President of Ireland (30/09/1986-24/04/1991) and from Miller (Ireland) Insurance Brokers Ltd. in relation to Professional Indemnity Insurance and the reduced rates available once MR took up office as President (12/03/1990-24/08/1992), and subsequently Coyle Hamilton Corporate Broking, for same (19/03/1993-03/05/1995) and in relation to the Fair Trade Commission report on Restrictive Practices in the Legal Profession (02-05/07/1990).
