Letter updating Boyle on the authors upcoming book, discussing current events in Northern Ireland, saying "The bombing continues at pace here, especially of pubs - the work of the UDA or the SAS in this case, tho' the Provos still manage 3 or 4 big ones a week. . ." The letter goes on in details of recent events and attacks in Northern Ireland.

Letter from Ragg, writing from Scotland, to Boyle, discussing upcoming conference on [welfare] rights and also discussing ongoing tensions in Northern Ireland.

Unsigned letter to Boyle discussing such issues as the Donnelly et al case at Strasbourg, commenting on case details, calling the applicants "prisoners of the NICRA", suggesting Sean McBride may be consulted on the case, also mentions other cases such as the Kearns trial. Also comments on army and police violence in Northern Ireland: "The army is basically still intimidating people and beating them up . . ." and discusses other such matters on violence in Northern Ireland. Letter from Myles, Belfast to Boyle, discussing publishing works by Boyle and also updating on conditions in Northern Ireland: "Things in Belfast continue as bad as ever. the Protestants seem to be becoming much more aggressive of late & [raids in Eire], in reprisal for N.I. bombings, have taken place. . . .I think everyone is depressed in Ulster at the moment." and also comments on political intervention in the conflict.
