He states that he is very interested in the work of the kickers, and in the method of ensuring equal treatment of the cloth. He states that he will be grateful for any information.

He states that he is not interested in the scouring (taking the natural grease out of the wool) and describes the thickening process. He states that the two processes were often united, with stale urine and soap being used as detergent. He states that he is gathering the information out of his notebooks, and is relying on him in particular for information on thickening. He comments that most of the information is unique.
