He asks him if he is ever come across snipe snares, pitfalls dug in the ground to capture hares and wild geese. He asks if there are any references to these in his work on County Galway.

He agrees with him that the green paint on the sleans is not appropriate, but that they can strip this off. He thanks him for the other items, and says that there is no need to bother Flynns in relation to the clay-pipes. He then discusses in detail a process shoemakers used to make tongs in shoes using a spiral cut, asking him to keep an eye out for examples.

He describes the coin he sent as a bronze penny token struck by the Parys mining company in 1788 in Anglesea, commenting that it is of no monetary value.
