              Correspondence between Robinson and Paul Kerrigan on signal towers, coast-guard stations, bridges and local defence force lookouts. Following the publication of an article about the Aran Islands map in the Irish Times in Mar 1984, Kerrigan writes to Robinson inquiring about Arkin Castle on Inis Mór, a signal tower on Inis Oírr, and another at Golam Head, Lettermullan. The correspondence runs from 28 Mar-19 Jul 1984 with copies of Robinson's letters included. Some enclosures including an article by Owen Quinn 'The coastwatching service', and an article written by Kerrigan 'The Defences of Ireland 1793-1815', 27pp;

              Letter in Irish from Cormac Ó Gráda, in the process of finishing a book on the economic history of Ireland in the nineteenth century. He asks Robinson for information on the Aran Islands during the Famine (21 Nov 1986). Carbon copy of Robinson's typed reply in English enclosing some notes on seanchas he has heard on the topic (undated), 2pp;

              Three letters to Robinson from Timothy Collins, enclosing notes on two stories of visits to Connemara in the 1850s/1860s by the British Association, and a group of Professors Melville, Cleland and Kinahan (6 May 1993). Two subsequent letters, discussing the early steamer services to the Aran Islands and the Yorke family (4-22 Aug 1994), 4pp.

              Copy typed letter from Tim to Dr Michael O'Connell, asking him to review a chapter from the book in light of O'Connell's findings in NW Connemara, and their applicability to Roundstone Bog. (4 Apr 2003) 1p;

              A handwritten letter from Jim [James White], Department of Botany at UCD to Robinson. The letter refers to an earlier email from Robinson, and gives advice on taxonomies, referring to the Braun-Blanquet system. Encloses photocopies on the classification of angiosperms, Professor Victor Westhoff, and the magazine 'Peatland News', which includes an article about Dr Matthijs Schouten, sometimes called the Father of Irish Bog Conservation.               Correspondence between Tim Robinson and Paul [Mohr?], beginning with a copy of the chapter 'Errisbeg' ('Climbing Errisbeg' in the published version). The chapter has been read by Paul who advises a revision of the parts that deal with geology. Copy letter from Tim to Paul in reply mentioning the rock exposed in the Delany Dome (12 May 2003), and a reply from Paul to Tim recommending Mike Williams' book and commenting on the Delany Dome.               Handwritten letter in Irish from Liam Mac an Iomaire to Robinson enclosing a photocopy of a chapter from a Cormac Ó Gráda book, 'An Drochshaol in Amhráin agus i Véarsaíocht'.               Correspondence between Robinson and Angela Partridge from Roinn an Nua-Ghaeilge (Department of Modern Irish) at UCD. Letter in Irish from Partridge asking Robinson to consider giving a lecture on placelore and placenames with the title 'An fhiannaíocht agus tír na hÉireann' (Tales of the Fianna and the country of Ireland). (6 Sep 1984). Mentions she is looking forward to the Connemara map. Copy letter from Robinson in English (16 Jan 1985), thanking her for correcting his Irish spellings, and enquiring about translating some specific passages from Ó Direáin and Ó Cadhain. Carbon copy letter from Robinson asking about the passages before publication. (18 Nov 1985).

              Letter from Etienne Rynne to Robinson (18 Feb 1985) enclosing extracts of 'Stones of Aran: Pilgrimage' with some minor comments, and seeking more information on 'Haverty's account of the banquet... the intra-mural walkway at Dún Aenguesa... and the Somerville and Ross reference'. Carbon copy of Robinson's response (5 Mar 1984 indicates one letter is incorrectly dated), in which he answers the queries.

              Two postcards from Michael and Eithne Viney to Robinson (6 Aug-20 Aug 1985), complimenting him on his writing in 'Stones of Aran'. A typed piece 'Fear na Mapaí' written by Viney was filed with this correspondence, but is undated. It is an article Viney wrote about Robinson's work.

              Carbon copy letter from Robinson to Elizabeth Healy of Bórd Fáilte (6 Nov 1985) enclosing amendments to text, and information on prices for the maps. Letter from Healy to Robinson (22 Nov 1985) mentioning enclosed proofs (not included).

              Letter to Robinson from Catherine Byron referring to her article on the Aran Islands in the Linen Hall review, and enclosing two poems of hers 'Pattern Day' and 'The Death of Saint Gregory the Great'.               Correspondence with Douglas Hyde relating to Connradh na Gaeilge matters, as well as personal correspondence on occasion. Born in 1860, and from the 1870s had an interest in the Irish language, folklore and antiquarianism. A student at TCD, he later became president of Connradh na Gaeilge in 1893, until his resignation in 1915 as the organisation became more nationalist in outlook, concentrating on his academic career as Professor of Irish at UCD, later becoming the first President of Ireland in 1937. He died in 1949.
