Material relating to a series of articles by Tim Robinson for the Connacht Tribune entitled 'Mapping South Connemara'. The articles were later published as a series of books. 'Mapping South Connemara' was published in 1985, and was a compilation of the first 29 articles. In 1992, 'Áit agus Ainm' was published, an Irish language translation of the first 29 articles by Liam Mac an Iomaire. In 2002, the bilingual publication 'Camchuairt Chonamara Theas' / 'A Twisty Journey: Mapping South Connemara' came out. This was an anthology of all 58 articles.

The correspondence is between Tim Robinson, Uinsionn Mac Dubhghaill and Diarmuid Johnson. Under discussion are translation, and a request from Johnson, the editor for Robinson to continue with the series with a specific focus on placenames throughout Ireland that contain a list of elements.

Correspondence between Robinson and Justin May who is doing some map work for the publication. A copy of Robinson's letter encloses the section of the map he wishes to use, with guidelines on scale, font, shading. (20 Nov 2001). These go from handwritten, to annotated typed versions, up to the final version. One draft incorporates notes from Paul Mohr, one with notes from Mike Gibbons, and one with notes from Mick O'Connell.

File of correspondence between Robinson and Jim Donnelly, co editor of the Journal of Irish Studies. The correspondence begins with a request from Donnelly for Robinson to contribute a scholarly article for publication in their journal, and continue through various iterations of a version of 'Space, Time and Connemara'. The final correspondence is a carbon copy of a letter from Robinson regretting the aborting of the journal. (23 Oct 1987-19 Jul 1988). The article was eventually published in 'A Journal of Irish Studies', published by the Irish American Cultural Institute, and a photocopy of this is included.
