Scope and content

Letter to Father Hayes from Peadar O'Curry, editor of the (Catholic) Standard, Dublin, forwarding a letter from a reader, William Kenny of Ballinasloe, County Galway. Kenny notes that: he has read the various articles in the Standard regarding emigration from rural Ireland and that small farmers are being 'fleeced' by 'strong companies and rich business men who eat all the fat of our fry and leave us nothing but the lean share'. Kenny states that 'There are two men who, when they speak about this matter seem to mean what they say and they are Rev. Father Hayes and our new Minister Mr. Smith' and asks to be put in touch with them.
