Scope and content
"Letter from Seán Ó Ruadháin, 5 Victoria Villas, Charlemont Rd., Cluain Tarbh, Áth Cliath, to An tAthair Mhic an Mheidh, Ballyhaunis, County Mayo, telling him that he had misjudged the objectives of the society. He states that he had hoped to co-operate with the D Ch, but that this had not happened. He states that one of the first things that the Committee had decided was that ""An Cearnóg"" was disgraceful, and that he had approached the editor on the instructions of the Committee but that this had only made matters worse. He states that they are about £4,000 in debt and in no position to do anything about the west. He contests his point that the only people not making money out of the Irish Revival are the priests. ""…I must say I could do just as well if I never spoke a word of Irish"". He gives examples of bad editing in the paper. He apologises for not going into things mentioned in his letter in more detail, and hopes to delve into matters more fully the next time they meet."
