Dr. Collis notes that United States Ambassador William Howard Taft II has to be in London that day but still wants Canon Hayes to come the Dublin the night before and stay the night with him. Dr. Collis also offers to drive Canon Hayes back home after the meeting and mentions that he will be speaking there.
