Letter to Canon Hayes sent in confidence from Reverend John Power (not be confused with Reverend John Dean Power), who is staying at his brother's house in Donohill, County Tipperary. Rev. Power writes that he believes that he has lost his pension because he had a few drinks at Cahir House Hotel and was reported on by the management. He asks Canon Hayes to write Bishop Edward Celestin Daly of Des Moines and tell him that he will be going back to Ballycarron soon for medical treatment but not to mention his suspicion that he has been reported on.
