Letter from M V Ronan PP, Salthill Hotel, Monkstown, County Dublin, stating that he has no momentos from his early League days. He comments on the attitude of Archbishop Walsh to the language movement, as he was his secretary between 1904 and 1906. He outlines his own involvement with the movement from his time as a student in Rome, commenting that Archbishop Walsh was anxious to get in touch with the movement. The Archbishop had learned some Irish in Maynooth, but he could not take part in the Gaelic League. He helped establish Coláiste Laighean, and encouraged his priests to identify with the language movement. "In fact, I may add that without the cooperation of the local clergy the branches would not have been a success, that is definite".
