Letter to Father Hayes from J.J. Bergin, Maybrook, Athy, advising 'don't be allowing other to steal your thunder. They will call you a "copyist" whereas you are the "Originator". He notes four major points to emphasise: 1) Farmers can't stand a further increase in labour costs; 2) Indoor unmarried farm labourers are relatively too well-off; 3) Married farm labourers' children are undernourished in families where the majority are under the age of 14; 4) Don't expect people to be get married after the age of 30.
